Putting a face to a place, 2012Hahnemuhle paper, silk screens, pins, thread
I seem to live permanently on the cusp of change – before I reach a milestone I am already planning the next one.
In Putting a face to a place, pins on the first face follow a map of places I lived in Newcastle, NSW. On the second, they show where I have lived in Canberra. A red thread describes the journey.
Using a new, more complex face for the second half of the journey relays that this is a different, richer part of my life, and I am a very different person. The lines on the faces are taken from the lines on my hands – this journey has led to my becoming an artist and maker, causing my hands to show far more than my face will ever give away.
