Make yourself at home, 2010

Maps, chair frame, fishing line

One of a series of works for an exhibition awarded through the Emerging Artist Support Scheme (EASS) Award, Craft ACT. Each piece in this exhibition discusses the fragility of Australia’s environment, and the plight of our endangered animals.

This style of chair is an Australian icon, representing backyards and BBQs. It would now be impossible to sit on – playing on how uncomfortable/unuseable we’ve made the environment for native animals, now that we’ve covered the land in our houses.
